Finding the Best Binoculars

What are the Best Binoculars?

There has been a lot of discussion about what are the best binoculars to buy. It is a difficult question and before answering I generally ask "what are you planning on using them for?". For example, if someone wanted to take good quality photographs of birds in the distance, I would say something like "have a look at buying digital camera binoculars because that would be the best type of binocular that would suit that situation".

So there is a lot to think about. For instance, maybe you want them while hunting so you can focus on your prey? Perhaps you just want an all round general pair of binoculars that can work in a range and variety of conditions?
The answer therefore is simply always choose the best binoculars that will suit the job you want to use them for.

The Lens
8 x the first number on a binocular refers to its magnification strength (8x) and how many times the lenses can magnify. The second figure (x42) refers to the width of the lenses in millimetres. Generally the larger the lens the more you can see, but remember the downside is a higher price.

Shop around
I suggest you always shop around and check out what is available before you buy a pair of binoculars. One of my favorite places to buy is online, for example through Amazon.com there are a wide range and variety of products that come with speedy delivery and good discounted prices. Some of the best binoculars on the market can be bought online.

Heavy vs Lightweight

Make sure (if you can) to physically pick up and handle the binoculars you are keen on before you buy them to see if they feel good in your hands and are not overly heavy. It is also important for them to feel comfortable (ergonomically designed preferably) and lightweight so they don’t weigh you down.

Expense

The best binoculars are those that will suit your personal needs and can be bought at an affordable price. Ask yourself whether you need to pay $1000 when you could spend $300 on a good pair that will do the job just as well? It always pays to spend some time researching what is available before buying.

I hope you will find this site useful in helping you find the best binoculars to suit your needs and situation.
